Board of Supervisors vote unanimously to turn Annadel State Park over to Regional Parks System

Today at the Sonoma County Board of Supervisor's meeting it was unanimously voted to let the Regional Parks System negotiate with the State Parks System to take over operations at Annadel State Park. A huge crowd came and supported the Regional Parks Team led by Caryl Hart, Director. Over 20 people from various organizations and alliances spoke to recommend that the Board of Supervisors allow the Regional Parks to take over management of Annadel for the next year.

January 31, 2012: NO NEW CASES.
 Background: On January 25, 2012, a large multi-discipline facility in Riverside County was quarantined after a horse displaying neurologic signs was confirmed positive for Equine Herpes Virus-1.

Recreational Trails Program Continues to be Threatened.

WASHINGTON, (American Horse Council) – The Federal Highway Administration’s Recreational Trails Program (RTP), which provides funding for recreational trails throughout the country, including those used by equestrians, continues to be threatened.

  • Help us send a powerful message of support for California’s 278 state parks by participating in CSPF’s 10th Annual Park Advocacy Day.
  • Participating in Park Advocacy Day is a meaningful and fun way to show support for California’s state park system. As a park advocate, you will have the opportunity to join with park supporters from throughout the state to meet with lawmakers and urge them to make sure California’s state parks are open, protected and well maintained.

On Saturday, September 17th, the Sonoma Trails organization has scheduled a trail work party. Sarah Reid, SCHC Trail advisor is putting out a call to all equestrians to get out of the saddle, get out there and show the cyclists and hikers what the equestrians are made of to help FINISH the work on North Burma in Annadel! Go ahead and take that as a challenge from this here equestrian who has showed up at every work day so far.

n April, the American Competitive Trail Horse Association (ACTHA) held auditions across the country looking for finalists for the reality television show, "America's Favorite Trail Horse." Nine hundred contestants tried out for the finals and of that group, 100 horse and rider teams were selected to attend the finals at Franklin Family Ranch in Austin, Texas.
