WHAT YOU CAN DO NOW to help keep the parks OPEN!

Last week the Horse Cabinet had excellent presentations by both Caryl Hart, Regional Parks Director and Elisa Stancil, VMNHA. They gave an excellent update on what is happening to save the three State Parks located in Sonoma County: Annadel, Jack London & Sugarloaf. Here is info on what YOU can do to help.Please take 5 minutes NOW to call or email your local council... we've given you all the contact info and even sample messages to make it easy. Please. Do it now! We need every horse person to add their voice to this discussion.

  • Volunteer and/or donate
  • Sugarloaf, Annadel and Jack London Parks:
  •  www.jacklondonpark.com
  • Training begins in the spring, all funds go to the lead agency working to save the park, for example, Annadel funds go to Regional Parks
  • Sugarloaf funds are held until Sonoma Ecology Center gets the contract to operate that park
  • Jack London funds are held until VMNHA gets the contract to operate Jack London
  • These early funds are significant because they boost the capacity of the lead groups to hire the staff needed to run the parks!  Every dollar counts!

    As a lifelong park supporter and user, and a member of the Sonoma County Horse Council, I ask you to support the Regional Park plan to annex Annadel!  The parks are connected and the parking options at the Regional Parks, as well as the wonderful staff at these parks, would make using Annadel far more convenient.  I am in full support of a special pass program that would allow riders to park their rigs in a safe manner and access Annadel.  

Hello Supervisor Zane,
    Our parks are a treasure!  Please help keep Sonoma County one of the best places to own a horse in California!  Annadel cannot close, and to keep it open we all have to join together and come up with strong community solutions, like the new group, Friends of Annadel.  I support the Regional Park plan to annex Annadel!  Please support this very important approach to keeping our valuable open space accessible, safe, and open to the community.
