Equine Influenza

Alert:

An attending veterinarian has reported 2 cases of equine influenza have been confirmed in Sonoma County, California, as of Tue 29 Jan 2019.

The 1st was a 2-year-old Lusitano gelding with onset of clinical signs on Sat 12 Jan 2019, including cough and nasal discharge.

The 2nd was a 10-year-old Warmblood gelding with onset of clinical signs on [Tue 15 Jan 2019], including cough, nasal discharge and fever.

The veterinarian noted several other horses in the barn with respiratory signs of cough, nasal discharge and fever are being monitored, but they have not been confirmed with equine influenza. Reportedly, both are responding favorably to treatment.
